No one nation acting alone can meaningfully address such global challenges as climate change, ozone depletion, ocean and atmospheric pollution, biotic impoverishment, land degradation, and tropical deforestation. The increasing need for international solutions and cooperation raises difficult but important questions about current interntional efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development.
